You are not implementing your own PatternLayout. You are extending the existing
one so that you can specify the header and/or footer information you want at
the beginning and the end of the file. That is what the header and footer in
the Layout interface are for.
More than likely this issue will be closed as "not an issue", however I could
see enhancing the PatternLayout so that the header and footer could be defined
in the configuration or by referencing plugins to provide the information.
