I'm thirding the +1 for putting this in a separate module such as log4j-stream.
I know that I'd find it useful in this shitty framework I have to use at work
(ATG, damn Oracle product they don't care about anymore since they bought the
company ATG) where plenty of their classes use PrintStream-logging where you
provide a PrintStream for various methods or classes to log to (even though
they provide a sort of commons-logging style API in the first place!).
