I realized a few years ago I was never going to be able to retire if I lived in California. So I bought a house in Phoenix a year and a half ago while I was still at Intuit. My wife’s parents had moved here so she was coming out frequently to help them out. After I was laid off from Intuit I decided to up my timeline and was able to find a job here and then sold my house in California. So to make a long story short it was for both work and personal reasons.
