What kind of bad site? Is this a known bug?

</div>FWIW, I just downloaded the release candidate of Maven 3.3.1 and used
version 3.4 of the site plugin. Both mvn site and “mvn site:stage
-DstagingDirectory=/Users/rgoers/log4j” worked correctly. "mvn
site:stage-deploy -DstagingSiteURL=file:\\\Users\rgoers\log4j” ends up with a
bad site. However, this is documented on the site plugin web site so it would
seem we have a resolution to this problem.
