Sorry for the extreme delay in updating this. The rollover should happen when
somewhere between the first and seventeenth log event is written after
midnight. This is because rollover is only inspected when log records are
written and only every 16 log events.
I am not sure what you mean by "append the date to the current file". The name
you have given to the file is "file" - there is no date pattern. Furthermore,
the filename is not interpolated at rollover so the date would only change at a
reconfigure or restart.
