Is the mentioned fix in RC1 yet? Or will that be in prod.

Re the xml not working - very odd - using the <Properties> block things work as 
normal, with the $\{variableName} syntax, instead of $\{map:variableName}.

If it helps at all this was (initially) tested on JVM 7, Windows 7, 64 bit.

Will try on linux 64 bit as well, and upload my working xml version.
