I don't know your log4j2.xml configuration, but my guess is that the bit in 
square brackets is the thread name. You could simply omit the thread name from 
the pattern layout. 

Otherwise you can use the replace function of PatternLayout. See 
http://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/manual/layouts.html#PatternLayout
