This looks like a nice performance improvement. I haven't had a chance to run
the perf tests yet, but the above results certainly look promising.
I guess what remains is documentation, firstly the functional aspects (on the
Appenders page): how it works, how to configure and use this feature. Also I
think it would make sense to do a write-up of the performance results with a
graph and some text as an additional section in the performance page.
