Can you clarify what you mean with "written to the rolled file along with the 
main log file"? 
Do you mean that after a rollover, new messages are appended to _both_ the 
current xxx.log file and the rolled over xxx.log.1 file?

Also, fortunately your configuration has {{status="debug"}}. This will output 
log4j 2 internal logging to the console. Can you show this output? It will help 
us understand what is going on.
