Gary Gregory commented on LOG4J2-1302:
--------------------------------------

I understand all that Remko. I disagree that our _default_ configuration should
hard wire this otherwise lightweight bridge to our otherwise optional and
heavyweight core. For me, it weakens the argument that our API module is
separated from our own Implementation module. I know of course that the
separation is still there. It seems that we should be moving in the other
direction as we are currently discussing to make the core module more
lightweight by moving out MOM and DB bits.

> After pulling in the log4j-slf4j-impl I was surprised to find out that I also
> needed to add the the log4j-core dependency myself instead of the dependency
> pulled in automatically from the log4j-slf4j-impl pom. I was expecting the
> behavior provided by slf4j-log4j12 which does pull in the appropriate
> implementation to get going immediately.
