Problem with Error Handling in appender

[VAYALATHU,ROY-VARGHESE (HP-Switzerland,ex1)]

Hello All,
         I wanted to add a new Appender which is extending from
AppenderSkeleton so that I can have my own custom appender. But my
requirement is that in case if this appender is not initialized then I want
to throw an exception and stop my application without this appender. Can you
tell me which is the best way to achieve this?
