Howdy, Your solution is general and good. But I for one wouldn't mind seeing a LogManager#getVersion method. It can return a simple string e.g. "1.2.8" or maybe something more involved. This is a minor enhancement, not an API requirement for us unlike the Servlet API (ServletContext#getServerInfo, getMajorVersion, getMinorVersion), but it couldn't hurt.
