Yes! In a word, don't use %C...! More info here: http://logging.apache.org/log4j/docs/api/org/apache/log4j/performance/Loggin g.html (in particular point 6). I'm still hoping someone on the log4j team will be able to explain what the problem is with log4j and AIX and if/when the issue is ever likely to be resolved. I have to say I find this problem quite ironic given that log4j started its life as an IBM project...!!! Robbie
