I know I've posted this in the past, but might as well post it again. 
If your corporate or other firewall blocks non-web ports (as mine
does), check out CVSGrab - http://cvsgrab.sourceforge.net/.

It basically screen scrapes (perhaps more accurately, parses the
markup) for CVSWeb, the open-source web front end to CVS.

I can vouch personally that it works for both the sourceforge.net
ViewCVS installation as well as Apache ViewCVS.  I use it all the time
to retrieve sf.net projects, log4j, and several commons packages
(namely, jxpath nightly builds :)

It's also available as an ant task.
