1.2.x

I could possibly use the alpha version.

Another question is there a possibility to set it up so that certain people can
only see messages based on certain loggers?

Assuming you are asking about Chainsaw V2..

Are you using log4j 1.2.x on the appender side, or log4j 1.3 alpha?

If it's log4j 1.2.x on the appender side:
- set up a SocketHubAppender on the appender side
- Configure each Chainsaw V2 client to use a SocketHubReceiver
configured to connect to the SocketHubAppender (can't use MDC or
location info)

If it's log4j 1.3 alpha on the appender side:

- SocketHubAppender/SocketHubReceiver (requires TCP access)
- MulticastAppender/MulticastReceiver (requires multicast-enabled
network, may lose events)
- DBAppender/DBReceiver (requires a DB)
- LogFileAppender and LogFilePatternReceiver or
VFSLogFilePatternReceiver (requires network access accessible as a file
or a VFS-supported file system, which includes SSH)

There may be other ways, I just can't think of them.

Is it possible to have three users running chainsaw all get logging
information from one application?
