already been done.

Mark, I have created a bugzilla ticket on your behalf, see :

I've also fixed the issue and committed to svn (your suggested  
changes look like the correct ones),

I have also created a suggested test case for JMSAppender, but I want  
to discuss it's dependencies with the log4j
dev team before adding that to the fold.
