Hi, In my case I created a SyslogWrapperLayout which can wrap any other layout, so I put PatternLayout inside SyslogWrapperLayout. As far as I see that's the only way to get cusomizeable Layout for syslog. Ah, and one more thing, I don't use SyslogAppender, but a simple SocketAppender with SyslogWrapperLayout, it works great,
