Well, the first major thing is that Log4j 1.2 has reached end-of-life. That doesn’t mean it isn’t usable, but the Log4j team won’t be fixing any bugs unless they are security related. Also, Log4j 1.2 has known issues where you can get a deadlock, but this won’t happen if you are using just the standard appenders. But Log4j 1.2 is probably still more widely used than any other logging framework so you are on pretty safe ground.
