Could you double-check the details? I guess you downloaded
`apache-log4j-2.3.2-src.zip` and followed the instructions in
`~/opt/apache-log4j-2.3.2-src/BUILDING.txt`.
Version 2.3.x was released almost 10 years ago and needs a toolchain of
that period to compile, preferably JDK 6.
