Check of project name for trademark issues

Google search for log4net exclusively came up with ASF
related links (or the earlier SourceForge log4net which
indicates code has moved to
ASF) with the exception of log4net.net which appears to be a
domain parker (Domain Drop S.A served by EVERYPARKING.COM)
and does not provide any software. Should make a review of
the code base (like the README.txt) and change plain
"log4net" to "Apache log4net" as appropriate.

My company (Neoworks) owns the registration for the log4net.com and
log4.net domains (but not the log4net.net domain). I'm working on
getting these to point to the LS site.

Can log4net be called "Apache log4net" before it has graduated
incubation?

Likely not. Will just add it as a checklist item before the LS PMC approves the first non-incubated log4net release. I'm not sure what you name your distributables now, but it should likely be apache- log4net*. I think the logging-log4* names used by log4j and log4cxx are not the model to follow and I expect those to change to apache- log4* in new releases.

Alignment / Synergy
Use of other ASF subprojects

Would be nice to have an Ant or Maven build in addition to NAnt.

I don't know how easy this would be, our current NAnt build is rather
complicated. I would certainly like to see an automated build, probably
GUMP.
