As said, we’re short on manpower and we will make sure that any helping hand gets a warm welcome. First you will want to join the @dev mailing list, checkout the source and get a login for the issue tracker. Then you can already start hacking, review patches, comment on issues, .. The ASF works as a meritocracy, meaning that when you gain the trust and merit more privileges, the PMC will kindly ask you if you are willing to take the privileges together with the obligations that come along with those privileges. Stick around and you will be noticed.
