The Evaluator is only supported by appenders that extend the BufferingAppenderSkeleton. The Evaluator is not used to filter log events, it is used to selectively override the buffering of the appender and deliver the current buffer immediately.
Each appender does have a Threshold that sets the lower limit on the events that it logs. For more control than the appender's Threshold you need to specify filters on the appender.
