In version 1.2.10 a flush method is added to the BufferingAppenderSkeleton, version 1.2.10 is not released, to use this version you will need to download the latest source, and build it yourself.

However, I don’t think it is necessary to flush a buffered appender before exiting the program.

If you have an appender buffering log events, is there a method to flush all the buffers and send the log events.

One example of when I want to use this is when my application closes.  I want to make sure all my log messages are output before I exit.
