as described in the following link HornetQ uses some native code on
linux to speed up their persistence operations:

I was wondering if a similar approach could also help to increase the
performance of logging on linux systems? Did anybody already start to
think in that direction?
Independent of that I would be interested to know if there are some
research results readily available that examine the impact of logging on
the performance of Java applications?
