Ceki, In SMTPAppender, the TLS property is tied to the auth property and it shouldn't be. Mail servers can require TLS without requiring authentication. I've put in a pull request on github that removes the auth requirement if you enable TLS.
For future reference, is the pull request sufficient, or do I need to open an issue, send email to the mailing list, etc? Thanks, -Mark
