You can simply start with fixing open bugs by committing the changes to the git and marking the related bug as 'pending', or even better convince the maintainer of the corresponding package to maintain the rules in the package itself by using 'dh_installlogcheck'. Please keep in mind that adding or updating rules means that the corresponding log line is filtered out by default for all logcheck users. I for one only add rules for packages I know (and mostly use myself) so I can seriously decide if a log line should be filtered out or not.
