UNIVERSITEIT VAN AMSTERDAM
Faculty of Science
http://www.science.uva.nl/vacancies/mgf

The Faculty of Science (FNWI) of the University of Amsterdam aims to
stimulate increased diversity in its research institutes. For this
reason we are initiating a new recruitment programme for top level
female talent, named after the ground breaking crystallographer
Carolina MacGillavry, an UvA alumnus. In the first round of this
programme we offer

* 5 MacGillavry Fellowships (tenure track)

We are seeking women that excel in one of the faculty's disciplines,
who possess leadership potential and aspire to a career as a professor
at the University of Amsterdam.

The fellowship comprises a tenure track, whereby the fellow starts as
assistant professor (UD) in a temporary position, with the prospect of
a permanent appointment as associate professor (UHD) as well as a
subsequent career path leading to a full professorship. Depending on
the fellow's qualifications, entrance at a higher level is also
possible. Tenure track

MacGillavry Fellows will be appointed for a maximum of six years as an
assistant professor.

During this track they are stimulated to set up their own independent
research programme hosted by one of the Faculty's research institutes.
The MacGillavry Fellows are expected to publish in high-profile
journals, attract their own external funding and contribute to the
teaching programmes within the faculty. Key performance indicators in
both research and education will be monitored and will serve as input
for an evaluation process, which will lead to a decision as regards
tenure.

Should the fellow prove successful, she will be offered a permanent
staff position as an associate professor and a subsequent personal
career path towards a full professorship will be mutually agreed upon.

The Faculty of Science is also happy to consider applications from
women with a more senior profile than that described here, and thus
reduction in the length of the tenure track and/or entry at associate
professor level are possibilities that can be considered as
appropriate. Research at the Faculty of Science
