Dear Fulbright Alumni, Last Sunday, in September 2, the oldest and largest Brazilian museum was gutted by a catastrophic fire, which burned all collections to the ground. *Museu Nacional *was founded by Dom João VI, the king of Portugal, in 1818 and celebrates 200 years of existence in 2018. With more than 20 million objects ranging from insects to huge pre-historic fossils, thousands of documents, photographs and ethnographical artifacts *Museu Nacional *also preserved the most ancient human fossil ever discovered in the Americas. *Luzia, *12.000 years old, is a landmark in the history of our continent. *Museu Nacional *is a key institution in the making of Brazilian science. Administered by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, it also holds one of the most prestigious Graduate Programs in Antropology, where local and foreign scholars conduct research and advance the knowledge over our cultures and societies. Many Fulbright scholars have visited the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro over the years. This letter aims to sensitize all Fulbright Alumni to this horrendous tragedy and call for your support. You can do it in two possible ways:
- Please sign the letter of support to *Museu Nacional *and its workers, in which we also advocate for the full recovery of the museum sector in Brazil as a key field to social development; - If you have visited *Museu Nacional *or the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro as a Fulbright Scholar, we kindly ask you to sign the letter of support and briefly share your experience using the hashtag #MinhaMemoriaNoMuseuNacional in social media, or sending it to the e-mail address [email protected] <https://fulbright.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2b5c7093b67146375e5fba81c&id=d2729ad683&e=cd964a5727> - SIGN HERE: https://www.change.org/p/fulbright-alumni-national-museum-of-brazil-solidarity-after-a-tragedy?recruiter=45588308&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition <https://fulbright.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2b5c7093b67146375e5fba81c&id=00794560e0&e=cd964a5727> -- Marcos Silva https://sites.google.com/site/marcossilvarj/ Philosophie macht Spaß! *new books!* *"How Colours Matter to Philosophy" (Springer, 2017)* http://www.springer.com/us/book/9783319673974 *"Colours in Wittgenstein's Philosophical Development" (Palgrave, 2017)* http://www.palgrave.com/br/book/9783319569185 -- Você está recebendo esta mensagem porque se inscreveu no grupo "LOGICA-L" dos Grupos do Google.
