Hi. You should use the latex LaTeX math delimiters inside:

    <m> $ \widetilde{\nu}=1/\lambda $ </m>
or <m> \( \widetilde{\nu}=1/\lambda \) </m>
or <m> \[ \widetilde{\nu}=1/\lambda \] </m>

Yes, and this is a known bug. Users who use MathJax rendering do not see an error when they do not use $ delimiters, but their equations are not visible to people using a different math renderer (like tth, which is the current default). And printing fails. There are other issues related to the use of several math renderers. For instance in this case \widetilde is not recognized by tth. Currently it might be better for authors to use tth, or to try different renderers.
