Mark, In LON-CAPA 2.11.2 and earlier the max file size for an attachment to a LON-CAPA message is statically set to 128 kB. Code changes already committed to CVS for lonmsgdisplay.pm (for incorporation in a future release) raise that to 1 MB.
I have now added bug 6895 (see: bugs.loncapa.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6895 ) which requests making the attachment size limit configurable. Feel free to add comments to that bug report.
