Thank you for the quick reply.
I will forward these suggestions to the lecturer (+ will document it for future 
reference :-)

I am curious to see it there will be other suggestions; perhaps a direct way to 
actually re-initialize a problem.
BTW, I did not mention it in the original post: we accept that if problems can 
be re-initialized, previous work on them will be lost.
