This is the fifteenth weekly summary of the London Perl Mongers
mailing list. For the (quiet: some of London.pm were over in NYC - is
anyone going to write a report?) week starting 2001-04-30:
Don't forget the London.pm website for meetings etc. The next meeting
is a social meeting and has been postponed for a week to the Thursday
10th May. It will be at the Penderel's Oak:

Ian Brayshaw asked about generating modules at runtime with coderefs
in the @INC array. Robin Houston suggested how to make filehandles
that "evaluate to true", and everything got complicated:

Paul Makepeace asked about the bind_param() method in DBDs, and asked
about Real World experiences with speed-up. I pointed him to a recent
post to dbi-dev list which explains the relative speed of fetch,
fetchrow_hashref, fetchrow_arrayref and fetchrow_array:

Dave Cross (who keeps on trying to plug his book) asked who would be
going to the Perl Conference - he may try and get groups discounts
everyone flies together:

In Buffy-related news, Chris Devers finds "Charisma Carpenter Guide to
Selected Linux Software".

Paul Makepeace has set up a list for "general technically oriented Mac
OS X related banter" to rid london-list of all the OS X talk:

There was some talk about Hotspot-like things for Perl, and the Perl
Virtual Machine being a generic runtime environment for every
programming language. More on this in the future:

Simon Cozens explains how important London.pm is to Perl development:

And finally, a recipe for stuffed camel:

Note that you can subscribe just to this summary, if you don't
want the hassle of tons of london-list mail but still want to keep up:
