We start off with the current CPAN and count everyones modules, from this we will generate the `cost' of each author and then fudge it a little[1]. All costs will be measured in Ningis and Pu's, with 8 Ningis being worth one Pu. We will also ignore some of the authors like P5P. The average price for the authors should be about 5 Pu's. Now everyone has 20 Pu's to `buy' a team of 5 CPAN authors. They can make one transfer every month, and any spare cash is kept in reserve. Points are only awarded for changes on CPAN i.e. not existing modules. Points can be scored in the following ways. New version of module 1 pt ( if two changes are made in one week, you still only get 1 pt, this makes it easier for implementation ) Totally new module 5 pts ( you do not get an extra 1pt for the fact it is also a new version, or if you the author has additionally created a new version that week ) New listing on the modlist 3 pts Top Level Namespaces affected by team 1 pt/ns ( if all 5 of your team only make changes/new modules in Acme you only get 1 pt, hence you need a well balanced team, who tinker with different areas ) You cannot have yourself in your fantasy CPAN team. Scores are generated every week, with any transfer requests occuring after the latest scores have been generated. Greg [1] To up the price of people who may not have that many modules relatively speaking, but are in a productive cycle at the moment and to reduce the price of people with lots of modules who are not in a productive cycle at the moment. -- Greg McCarroll http://217.34.97.146/~gem/
