well take them back then, and have them replaced for free. That's why we buy brands, because we have a comeback if they're crap. Get a non-branded pair of jeans/trainers at a market and try taking them back and see how far you get. > > Globalisation is here to stay, get used to it. > > No. Sorry to provoke a Godwins but if everybody had said "look, the > Nazis are here to stay, get used to it". Gah. No. I'm not going into > that. bloody hell, Godwin so soon :-) I'm not saying BTW that I like globalisation, I dislike it a lot. I went to a shopping centre in Manchester at the weekend, and looked in a discount book store. They had the same books, for the same price, as the shop in Slough. This surprised me, and made me think that maybe publishers are actually printing books especially for this market instead of these being books that no-one wanted in the first place. The whole shopping centre was the same, same goods, same prices, same sales, same discounts. The only shopping I actually enjoy now is in second-hand stores and antique shops, at least there is some chance of seeing something different. So I think the world is becoming a more boring place, but I think protesting about it is doomed to failure. I can live with it, I actually like eating at MacDonalds, and have done so in Amsterdam, Paris, Singapore, New York and many other countries, and there is a choice if you want to take it. /Robert
