dear loongson developers, i'm looking for some metrics on how the MIPS-DSP (SIMD) instructions can accelerate Video Decode. it's very hard to find anything because searches for "MIPS-DSP MPEG" end up separating out "DSP" from "MIPS", and as a result add in information about "10,000 Dhrystone MIPS" as well as "TI DSPs" which is more than useless.
i'm basically looking for a metric, something like "at 750mhz with a single-core, H264 decode can be done up to 720p @ 30fps, using MIPS64 DSP instructions". once i have that i will be able to make some estimates of what i'm actually looking for (which is how much processing power, on a *vanilla* MIPS64-DSP, it requires to be able to do 1080p30 H264, VP8 and Theora Video Decode). any assistance greatly appreciated. l. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "loongson-dev" group.
