Hi there, I believe the friend 'flow' goes a bit like this. (Anyone else, please correct be if i'm wrong it's been a while since i've used this part of Lovd)
User A signs up, User B signs up, User A decided to 'follow' User B User B decided to 'follow' User A back User A and B both now have the option to request friendship. This confused me slightly at first aswell, and 'followers' aren't really needed for my project so I modified mine to exclude the whole followers process. You may want to do the same.
