Here are some specifications of the new virus:
* Warning on December 31, 1999
you may receive an email called, Happy New Year.
Do not open it, it contains a deadly virus.
It will erase Windows from your computer along with many other program
files.
* Warning on January 2000 :
W32/Mypicts.Worm Virus
you may receive an email (January 01, 2000) without subject but
have an attachment names "Pics4You.exe". Do not open it, it contains
Mypicts.Worm virus.
It will erase, format and destroy your hard disk.
W97M/MMKV.A
This virus propagates by infecting Word documents in Microsoft Word 97 and
2000 and Word's normal.dot file.
On The Year 2000 this virus' payload will activate. This virus will try to
delete all the files in the root directory and the current directory from your
computer. Then displays the message: "MK-Words By MMK 1999" and "Welcome To
Y2K".
W32/Fix
This is a 32bit Worm that travels by sending email messages to users. The
message will come to the user and the attachment is a Y2K Internet bug fix.
This virus will sent the duplicate message to any other user in the same
distribution list with the subject : "Internet Problem Year 2000" with above
attachment.
Count2K
You may receive an email with attachment Y2KCOUNT.EXE.
This attachment contains the virus and it will destroy some files.
W97M/Chantal This is a virus for Word 97 documents. This is a stealth
virus; it will attempt to intercept the macro viewing commands to attempt to
hide
its presence. On the January 1, 2000, or the 31st of any month this virus'
payload will activate.
This virus will delete files in the current and the root directory and display
the message: Mark says...Chantal B. 4ever!
W95/Babylonia
This virus will infect files with extension EXE and HLP on the local Windows
9x (95, 98) system. In some cases, the files infected are damaged due to
overwriting existing code or data. For example in testing, MS Outlook gave
this error when run after being infected- OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault
in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0137:bff9a141.
Please delete immediately:
* If you receive an email with specification like above or
* If you receive an email from unknown people.

Pemberitahuan dari Tim Tanggapan Darurat Virus Komputer di Proland Software
:
Wabah "cacing" komputer baru telah ditemukan lagi, yakni cacing Mypics.
Wabah cacing mampu menjalar cepat melalui Internet dan menyebabkan kerusakan
hebat pada komputer pada tanggal 1 Januari 2000. Ini jenis virus komputer
pertama yang diprogram untuk aktif memasuki tahun 2000.
Tentang Cacing Mypics : Mypics adalah jenis cacing komputer yang merebak di
sistem komputer yang menggunakan Windows 95, windows 98 dan Windows NT.
Wabah cacing menyebar sendiri, dengan menumpang email, sambil membawa
dayarusak dahsyat yang diprogram untuk terpicu memasuki tahun 2000.
Cacing ini menjalar melalui program email Outlook Express dengan cara
menyebarkan dirinya dengan email yang tertuju ke 50 alamat email yang ia
"curi" dari Address Book program itu. Email tumpangannya membawa attachment
berjudul "pics4you.exe" dengan subyek email blanko (kosong). Sedangkan di
dalam badan email tertulis pesan dalam bahasa Inggris :

Saat attachment diaktivasi (diklik), langsung cacing menyerang harddisk
komputer bersangkutan dan memformat ulang harddisk setelah tanggal memasuki
tahun 2000.
