Now here's a good use for the LowEndMac list.... After much discussion and lots of feedback, we adopted the convention of using "mailto" links in the list footers because they are an Internet standard and seemed to work with all the major email clients. The links look like this:
Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Of course, we all know just how standard AOL is -- apparently the standard way of specifying an email link just isn't good enough for them. Yes, their brain-dead email client tries to address email to "mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]"; instead of "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" -- go figure! I'm living gloriously in the past with Claris Emailer. It doesn't even support links, but when I select <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and command-click, even it knows to open a new email window and address it properly. I'd like to change to a system that still works for people with real email clients but will also be compatible with AOL, assuming that's possible. So I'm asking for feedback from members of this list -- let me know which of the following create live links in your email client and (of course) which client you use. 1.
