I am trying to use an Yamaha 8824S CD-RW(internal version, put in a case) with my Macs. While I am able to write CDs, reading them in the drive is not possible. Regardless of the type of CD, inserting the CD causes the system to lock up. If a driver is not loaded, the lock up does not occur. Also, it is possible to use other CD-ROM drives correctly.
I have tried several Macs: a PB 540c running 7.6.1, a Performa 466 running 7.6.1, and a G3-upgraded PB 1400 running 8.6. I tried Toast 4.1, Toast 5, and CD-Sunrise drivers, but the same event occurs. The drive is set for ID 3, with parity and termination enabled. I believe the error is hardware related. Any suggestions on workarounds or fixes are greatly appreciated. -- The LowEndMac list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> LowEndMac list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/lowendmac.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/lowendmac%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
