Here's what's happening at LPI these days.

  _____________________________________________________
COMDEX AND THE LINUX BUSINESS EXPO - LAS VEGAS, NEVADA.

What a huge show! LBE was double the size of last years show!
We had a booth, thanks to Linuxmall.com which was well attended.
Thankyou all for stopping by and saying hello.

Thanks to Ray Ferrari, LPI's supporter and friend for all his work at
the booth, and also to Marc Torres of Atipa for pitching in and working
 at the booth.

We had wonderful feedback from the attendees who came by - from various
states in the US and various countries around the world.

We were so encouraged to hear how many people had already heard of
LPI, how many had already taken exams, how many had invested time
and money in taking training leading to the LPI certification,
and how many were interested in helping out, wanting to be a part of
 what we are doing.

 JAPANESE TRANSLATIONS OF OUR EXAMS.

An exciting new addition to our exam line up, is the Japanese
Translations of exam 101 and 102.

We are pleased and proud to announce Japanese exam 101 went Live
on Nov 13th and exam 102 will be Live at the beginning of December.

We would like to thank LPI-Japan for their efforts on our behalf to
create this exam, and also thanks to Linuxcare for their assistance
to ensure everything was completed correctly.

Scott Murray, exam development director, says this is the beginning
of something that will grow, as other parts of the world look for
 exams in their own language.

 JOB ANALYSIS SURVEY.

We are in the final stages of preparing to launch our Level 2
job analysis survey which is how we will determine the objectives
for the Level 2 exams. (See http://www.lpi.org/p-development.html
if you would like to better understand our process.) We're just
finishing up some tests of the interface and should be launching
the survey soon. Please watch for that announcement as we'll
need your help with the survey!

 VOLUNTEER THANKS.

Every LPI-News that has been sent out recently, has included thanks to
our many volunteers. This one is no exception - as without
our volunteers we could not be so effective.
Thank you to Deshuang Tang in California who helps with the website
management, along with Jerry Crick from the U.K. - and also to
Ralf Spenneberg from Germany, who updates the news on the website to
keep our events and news pages up-to-date.

We would also like to thank Linux Journal for their advertisment space,
 (see the latest Linux Journal)
and thanks to J.J. Sheeran for designing the ad.

And to the many, many more who participate in some way to make LPI work
 a great big THANKS!

 AMSTERDAM AND PARIS.

We will be represented at the Skyevents expo in Amsterdam in
January and Paris in February - and also at the New York Linux World
 expo Jan 30th to Feb 2nd. 2001.

Please have a look at our events page
to see where we are going to be and if you would like to assist, please
 let me know ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).
or just come and visit the booth, we'd love to see you there!
Its always the place to come to talk about what's happening in the
 Linux world.

 CO-ORDINATING THE WEBSITE TRANSLATIONS.

Our website has evolved over the past year from an English only site
to a multi-language site that we can be very proud of.

We have a co-ordinator who works hard to ensure this comes together,
and is still looking at various languages yet to be posted.
If you would like to assist, or if you would like to contact our
co-ordinator he will be pleased to let you know what is happening.

 CERTIFICATES.

For those who are awaiting their certificate from LPI - those are the
candidates who have passed both exam 101 and 102 - the design is
complete, and we are now having them printed to be sent out shortly.
These are our LPIC-1 graduates. Congratulations to you all!

 ELPIKS.

For candidates who are studying for their LPI certification, or if you
know someone who has passed his exams - a great gift for the holiday
season would be one of our adorable LPI plush penguins. They are
available through Linuxmall.com and a portion of the sale is
donated back to LPI to continue their work...thanks Linuxmall.com.
This is the URL to purchase our ELPIK.

May I take this opportunity to thank our candidates who have waited
for results or certificates as we brought the only truly open and
 neutral certification together.
You have our sincere appreciation for your co-operation, and support.

 Thankyou.
