 1. LPI's program for Sair graduates.

LPI has offered to all Sair LCA's the opportunity to become LPI
 certified.

If the Sair graduate wishes to become LPI Level 1 certified,
we will accept the Sair certification plus he must take 1 of the
 Level 1 exams - (LPI-101 or LPI-102).

If the Sair graduate wishes to become Level 2 certified,
we will accept the Sair LCA certification, plus he must take both
the LPI Level 2 exam (LPI-201 and LPI-202).
He will then become both LPI Level 1 and Level 2 certified.

We recognize that Sair graduates have worked hard for their Sair
certification, and want to make it as easy as possible for them to
 become LPI certified.

You will see the detail on this program on the LPI website.

 2. LPI in New York at the Linux World Show.

Anyone who attended the show in New York will have noticed their was
a different attitude within the show. There were just as many suits as
sandles - and real business discussions going on every where. It was
all about about doing business using Linux.

At the LPI booth there were lots of discussions going on, such as what
CompTia is doing with LPI (we even had Eva Chen of CompTia explaining
how Linux Plus will be a certification for beginners to Linux, and
 a stepping stone to LPI.)

We also had LPI exams going on downstairs thanks to the sponsorship
of IBM - We were able to offer these exams at a discount, and plan
to do these inexpensive test sites where-ever we can - starting
with CeBit in Hannover next month - (see #4A below).

 3. Prometric and LPI.

We have started discussions with Prometric, to offer our exams through
their testing sites. This will take some time to roll out, but we
hope to have the exams published through Prometric within the next
 few weeks.

We will, of course continue to offer our exams through Vue's test
sites.

If you can help out at the booth, we would appreciate it - but if you
would just like to come and say 'Guten Tag' or Hello, we would be happy
 to meet you.

 7. Courseware approval by Procert.

Due to requests by many different groups, LPI has contracted with
Procert Labs to approve courseware. LPI will remain a neutral body
in this - and has asked Procert to ensure the course-ware meets
definate standards to be approved by Procert.
Courseware providers have the opportunity to have their courseware
 approved, should they wish to do this. Please contact Procert at;

 8. Sponsor in the Spotlight; http://www.oreilly.com/

Our friends at O'Reilly are this months sponsor in the spotlight.
They kindly helped at the Linux World Show in New York, by offering
our exam takers a free "LPI in a Nutshell" book.
This was a very kind offer - and we really appreciate all their
support,
the exam takers who received the book were all delighted.

 9. LPI has over 1,000 exams taken in December 2001.

We are pleased to tell you that the exams taken in December exceeded
the 1,000 mark. We have grown from a few exams a month to this number
in just 2 short years. We gave our first exam in January 2000.
