1 - Linux World - New York

This month has been a busy month for LPI.

To start the year we attended Linux World in New York last week as
'Certification Sponsors' and gave 150 free exams at the conference.

Press releases were issued during the show regarding our plans to
work with United Linux, and our plans to work with Sage.

The show was busy, and many interested candidates, training centres
and old friends showed up at the LPI booth to chat about the progress
that LPI is making.

Our thanks to those who assisted at the booth;
Atsushi Nagano, Anthony Awtry, James Stanger, Don Corbett.

2 - LPI and United Linux

As mentioned above, LPI and United Linux are planning to work together.
United Linux will offer an exam based on UL but candidates will be
required to complete the LPI exams first

LPI Exam 101 and 102 will be the requirement for the UL exam.
LPI Exam 201 and 202 will be the requirement for the UL L2 exam.

(Of course after the 101 and 102 exam, candidates are LPI Level 1
certified. Similarly, candidates who pass 201 and 202 and have
their L1 are LPI L2 certified - nothing has changed as far as the
LPI certifications are concerned).

More details will be made available as things are finalized.

3 - LPI and Sage

The press release with Sage shows LPIs plans to try to build a
stronger System Administration group and build a stronger Linux
and IT community.

Again more details will be made available as things are finalized.

much more information on the formation of the LPI affiliate in Germany.

We will also be doing a short presentation at the Open Source Event
on March 17th 2003 in the Convention Centre.

Please come to the open source area to say hello;
Hall 3 Stand C37 Booth B3 - Open Source Solutions Exchange.

5 - Issuing Certificates

A reminder that certificates are issued only after passing both Level 1
exams (101 and 102). Your certificate is issued within 6 - 10 weeks
after completion of the required exams.
Level 2 certificates are issued after passing Level 1 and both L2 exams
(201 and 202).

If your certificate is not recieved after this time frame, please let us
know; [EMAIL PROTECTED]

6 - LPI in Shanghai

LPI Inc. would like to thank it's affiliate member, LPI-Japan for their
assistance to bring a testing lab to Fudan University in Shanghai, China
where Chinese students are anxious to participate in the LPI
certification.
Over 100 students took their Level 1 exams at this lab.

7 - Affiliates

As mentioned, we are hoping to see a fully formed affiliate in Germany
within the next few weeks. We have a strong affiliate in Japan who
supports LPI and we are talking to people in Brazil and in the US and
China with regard to putting an affiliate together.

We are always interested in building affiliate groups which will speak
for LPI-Inc in their country, and help organize translations,
so if you are interested, please let me know; [EMAIL PROTECTED]
