Linux Professional Institute Announces OSC Corporation as
MasterAffiliate in Europe

(Kassel, Germany: October 13, 2006) - The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI), (http://www.lpi.org), the world's premier Linux certification
organization,
announced Open Source Certification (OSC) Corporation as its new Master
Affiliate in Europe with responsibility for the countries of Austria, Germany,
the
Netherlands and Switzerland.

OSC Corporation is founded by long time supporters of LPI and members of
LPI e.V. (LPI-German). "We welcome OSC Corporation to our worldwide team
of Master Affiliates. OSC will be a strategic cornerstone of our
Regional Enablement Initiative in Europe and continue the outstanding
foundation work undertaken by LPI-German in the region," said Jim Lacey,
President and CEO of LPI.

Reiner Brandt, CEO of the new OSC Corporation and President of
LPI e. V. also noted LPI's historical work in Europe and outlined plans
for future growth: "OSC Corporation will build upon the traditional
support LPI has established within German-speaking countries to reach
out to new markets and establish new partnerships and sub-affiliates.
LPI is well recognized within Europe as the global standard for Linux
certification. We trust that this recognition will increase as there is
a growing climate of adoption in Europe for Linux solutions within the
IT industry, business enterprise, and government."

Richard Seibt, former President of Novell Europe and SuSE Linux, and
Chairman of the Linux Business Campus Nuremberg (LBCN) applauded the
establishment of OSC and noted that it was indicative of the increasing
growth of Linux and Open Source business in Europe: "LBCN supports
standards and educational frameworks in the field of Linux business like
those of LPI as they are indicative of the growing acceptance and high
quality of Linux software solutions. Partnerships like the one between
our LBCN association and the LPI e.V. and OSC further the growth of IT
business and improve networks in the Linux market." Seibt also noted
other LBCN initiatives like their European-wide "OpenSource Competition"
or the "Open Source Meets Business" congress" also assist in the growth
of Linux and Open Source standards and certification.
