LPI Offers Discounted Certification Exams at LinuxWorld Cologne 
(November 14-16)

(Kassel, Germany and Toronto, Canada: October 26, 2006) The Linux Professional 
Institute (LPI), (http://www.lpi.org), will offer discounted certification 
exams to attendees of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo Cologne 2006 at 11:00 and 
15:00 on November 14-16, 2006. Exams will be available in German and English 
and include all LPIC-1 (101 and 102) and LPIC-2 (201 and 202) exams, 
both MySQL 5.0 certification exams (administrator and developer) and the 
Ubuntu Professional exam.  This will be the first time that the Ubuntu 
Professional exam will be offered at a LinuxWorld event in Germany.

Three leading companies in the German Linux business, "Heinlein Professional 
Linux Support", "Linup Front" and "SerNet", are supporting LPI's 
participation at LinuxWorld Cologne by offering prizes for those candidates 
who obtain the ten highest test scores on their LPI exams during LinuxWorld. 
First prize will be a one-week LPI-Level-2 training at Heinlein Akademie in 
Berlin with accomodation, catering and evening program all inclusive (see 
http://www.heinlein-support.de/web/akademie/kurse/lpi2).  
Second to fifth prize is a "Self-Study-Kit for LPI201" from "Linup Front", for 
the preparation to the LPI 201 exam (see 
http://www.linupfront.de/cgi-bin/shop?op=doc&doc=ssk201&lang=de) and sixth to 
tenth prize is the book "Samba 3 für Unix/Linux-Administratoren", written by 
staff members of the company "SerNet" (see 
http://www.sernet.de/Samba/Buch.html).

All exams will be offered in "Presse-Center" of the "Congress-Centrum 
Koelnmesse, 
CC-Ost, 2.OG"  on all three days of the exposition. LinuxWorld attendees
will pay 60,- EUR for the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 exams--a 50% discount 
off the regular price. The Ubuntu Professional exam will be available at a 
discounted fee of 75,- EUR for UBUNTU community members and 85,- EUR to all 
other LinuxWorld participants.  The MySQL exams are offered at a 50% discount 
to all conference participants at 85,- EUR. As with LPI exams, all candidates 
can pay for their exams at the exam room by cash.

All LPI and Ubuntu Professional candidates must pre-register at the LPI 
website for an LPI ID number at 
http://www.lpi.org/en/lpi/english/certification/register_now. Exam candidates 
must bring valid photo identification and their LPI ID number to the exam 
lab. Exam candidates for MySQL exams must also obtain a MySQL certification 
ID from the MySQL website at http://www.mysql.com/certification/signup and 
must also bring valid photo identification and their MySQL certification ID 
number to the exam events.  Due to limited seating at the event candidates 
for all exams are advised to pre-register at http://lpievent.lpi-german.de

During LinuxWorld Cologne, LPI also invites interested Linux
professionals to volunteer to write the "beta" exam for their LPIC-3
certification at 11:00 and 14:30 on November 14-16. This volunteer effort will 
enable LPI to test their LPIC-3 exams for quality, accuracy and relevancy. 
The LPIC-3 certification is scheduled for release in January 2007. Similar 
"beta" exam lab events are scheduled in 2006 at locations around the world 
and will involve over 300 Linux professionals. Please contact Klaus Behrla
