LPI Announces New Affiliate in South Korea

(Sacramento, CA, USA: September 16, 2009) The Linux Professional
Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), announced a new affiliate for their program in
South Korea: OpenPlum, Ltd. OpenPlum (www.openplum.co.kr) is
a leading Open Source solution provider in Korea and its President and
CEO, Kwangjei Cho, is also director for the Linux Foundation Korea
(http://www.linuxfoundation.org/about/staff).

"The adoption of Linux and Open Source is rapidly growing in Korea."
Therefore many IT companies are seeking to employ proven Linux
"experts". The Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) is
ideal in this regard in that it is widely seen as a global standard in
professional Linux certification. We are finding a growing number of
Linux developers are pursuing LPI certification as they need to
demonstrate they have expert qualifications to employers," said Kwangjei
Cho, president and CEO of OpenPlum. Mr. Cho has a long history of
involvement in the Linux and Open Source community in Korea including
former positions as managing director of Haansoft (a leading provider of
Linux and Open Source Software in Korea) and as vice-president of
Asianux Corporation--a joint venture of Miracle Linux (Japan), Red Flag
Linux (China) and Haansoft.

"Korea has always been an important player in the LPI community.
However we also see excellent opportunities for advancing Linux
professionalism in that region: the government through such agencies as
the Korea IT Promotion Agency (KIPA) and the National Education
Information System (NEIS) are actively promoting the adoption of Linux
and Open Source and such Korean companies as Samsung and LG have
announced that they will implement Linux solutions for all their digital
appliances," said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of LPI.

The Linux Professional Institute is globally supported by the IT
industry, enterprise customers, community professionals, government
entities and the educational community. LPI's certification program is
supported by an affiliate network spanning five continents and is
distributed worldwide in multiple languages in more than 7,000 testing
locations. Since 1999, LPI has delivered over 200,000 exams and 65,000
LPIC certifications around the world.
