Actually, there are a lot of differences between LPIC-1/2 and
the RHCT/RHCE besides price, let alone once you introduce the RHCA*.

What is "worth spending on" is all perspective.
I spent $8,000 in _exam_fees_ only (0 training) taking 40 exams
during the spring/summers of 2002/2003.
That didn't include other expenses, including driving from Orlando to
Atlanta to sit the RHCE, among the few others I had to travel for..

Heck, one of the mega-foul-ups Cisco-Prometric made is because I
could not sit and reschedule exams between Florida (US state where I
lived) and Illinois (US state where
my client was at) and because of
timing and screwups on the transcript, I wasn't formally
awarded the CCDP even though I
passed all 6 exams that cost me $900.

Cisco's attitude, even though I scheduled and passed the exams
within the required dates, is why I just stopped taking IT cert exams
altogether in 2003.

Whenever a client brings up the fact that they want me to update
my CCDA/CCNA/CCDP/CCNP I just tell them I would if Cisco will
guarantee they will actually award it as long as I pass in the required
dates, regardless of what snafus Prometric and they have -
especially across US state lines.
