This is probably ancient history. Nowadays the exams comprise 60 questions 
each.

AFAIK the »A« and »B« exams are two concurrent versions of the exam in 
question -- you will be randomly assigned one or the other (say »A«), and if 
you fail you have to wait a week before being allowed to take the other one 
(»B«); if you flunk that one as well, you have to wait three months (IIRC), by 
which time the exam questions will have been changed so you don't get to do 
the same exam again.
