Linux New Media AG Launches English Language LPI Training Portal
Oct 05, 2010

New Linux online training comes complete with video streaming.

Munich and Kassel, Germany, October 4, 2010: The Linux New Media
learning portal, Linux Magazine Academy, is presenting online training
courses in English to prepare candidates for the LPI certification
exams: http://academy.linux-magazine.com. Completely new for the
English language videos, the double-screen streaming solution shows
the trainers simultaneously with their presentation material.

Available Since March 2009 for the German Language Market

Since March 2009, the Linux New Media publishers have successfully
presented the LPI certification online training for the German
language market. Several hundred participants have already taken
advantage of the online training, so the publishers decided to extend
the unique learning platform to the English language market.

The coursework will be in the form of two concurrent video screens --
one screen shows the trainer, and a second screen shows the
presentation monitor on which the trainer is working. This allows
participants to see the trainer's Linux command-line entries while
also following along with exercises and examples.

Brian Osborn, chairman of Linux New Media AG, says, "As the world's
largest content provider for Linux and open source, we provide an
exceptional opportunity to disseminate knowledge about our core
subject via our online training. The more Linux is used in IT systems
across the globe, the more important professional Linux know-how
becomes, and the LPIC certification is a vital prerequisite for career
success. With online training from the Linux Magazine Academy,
students can prepare for the LPIC exams in a fast, flexible and
affordable manner."

LPIC-1 Course with Author and Trainer Ross Brunson

The Linux New Media portal launches with two preparatory courses for
the LPI-101 and LPI-102 exams. Passing the exams is a prerequisite for
the worldwide accepted qualification for the Linux Professional
Institute Certificate 1, or LPIC-1. The instructor for both courses is
professional trainer Ross Brunson. Among his many achievements, Ross
Brunson has been director for Unix and Linux training at Training Camp
and senior enablement engineer for Novell/SUSE, Inc. In the U.S., he
has been a frequent Linux instructor over the years and shares his
knowledge in his book for the LPIC-1. Highly rated by participants and
LPI alike, Ross Brunson presents the material competently and with
flair.

The Linux Magazine Academy online training consists of clearly defined
modules specified by LPI, which helps participants learn the expected
material step by step so they can pass the exams. Linux Magazine
Academy's trainer provides certification candidates with a free video
introduction about how to best prepare for the certification exams.

Linux Magazine Academy with Comprehensive Supplementary Material

In addition to the online training, the Linux Magazine Academy
provides further important relevant material. Participants will find
supplementary exercises and examples of exam content. They can also
profit from the many publications and other resources in the field.
The international Linux Magazine provides free articles and links to
relevant videos and other content in its worldwide commitment to the
open source community.

Timely and Cost-Saving

Participants can call up LPIC training on global Web platforms, which
makes the training timely and location-independent. The only
prerequisite is a browser with Flash Player installed.

Each course is available for the special price of 199 Euro (currently
169 British pounds or 269 US dollars) until November 15, 2010. After
November 15, courses cost 299 Euro (currently 249 pounds or 399
dollars), tax included. The course package for LPIC-1 consists of the
LPI-101 and LPI-102 courses, for which an additional cost savings is
available at the rate of 399 Euros (currently 339 GBP or 539 USD)
until November 15, 2010. After November 15, courses cost 499 Euros
(currently 419 GBP or 659 USD).

"At LPI Central Europe we are thrilled about the highly interesting
extension of the course material spectrum for the LPI exam preparation
that Linux New Media AG is addressing," says Reiner Brandt, managing
director of LPI Central Europe. "LPI essentially leaves it up to the
candidates to select the most suitable training courses. Without a
doubt, many candidates who expect flexible, modern preparation methods
will opt for the new learning portal. Our LPI Approved Training
Partners will thereby be able to provide their customers with useful
extensions to their training materials as found in the training
portal's blended learning methodology," Brandt goes on to say.
