Hi Chris, The only free stuff I used were the IBM Developer Works material to supplement LPI-2. I had the O'Reilly 2nd Edition book to help and the official objectives for everything else (I guess that was free too ;-). I think it's a great idea and a "crowdsourced" LPI study guide would be great for future candidates. I have been aware of this http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LPI_Linux_Certification but I never used it and don't know how good it is. You might be able to use https://translations.launchpad.net/ for translations depending on how your structure this project. I'd advise making a call-to-arms on the various Linux podcasts to drum up interest.
