Hey gang, we're ready to test out something we think is kind of fun, the ability to have candidates submit a video to LPI all by themselves, we just put up the page and tell them how to get there, they check their equipment, press record and save and it goes off to us for review and possible posting.
We would love to have as many of you as possible check out the process, leave up to a 5 minute video on your favorite topic, maybe intro yourself to the world, tell us your favorite command, the cool project you are working on etc. I'll curate the videos and post some on another page so you can see what rock-stars you all are. We are thinking that if this works well, we'd use it for some of the following purposes: 1. Schools that get all their students together to say "hi", tell us a short bit about what they're learning in their LPI-specific classroom 2. Introductions from OSS Project leaders and members for publicity, get volunteers etc. 3. What's your favorite command, What did you use to study, How has LPI helped your career, other questions. Yes, it's true, it does use some Flash, but we were unable to find another provider who has the "user submits video -> we view/curate it -> we can share and/or download it" scenario, so we'll grit our teeth and use Flash as sparingly as we can. I'm totally open to feedback on this, we just want to have a great way to hear from everyone in the field and see if we can get some things rolling. P.S. Please, try to keep it G-rated and family-friendly…. (If you're not going to, at least warn me, I'm the poor sod who will have to view all of them!)
